Plan a visit for:

Goa blends coastal relaxation with distinctive food, heritage, local neighbourhoods and lush natural landscapes. It offers everything from lively group holidays and family breaks to quiet beach stays and slower escapes.
Visa Requirement

Indian citizens do not require a visa to travel to Goa. Travellers should carry a valid government-issued photo ID for flights, trains, hotel check-ins and other travel requirements. International visitors must comply with the visa and entry requirements applicable to travel within India.

Ideal Duration

4–6 days: Enough time to explore selected beaches, Panaji, Old Goa and some of the state’s heritage and local experiences. Shorter 3–4 day trips work well when focused on either North Goa or South Goa.

Planning Money

The currency used is the Indian Rupee (INR). UPI, cards and digital payments are accepted across most hotels, restaurants and tourist areas. Carrying some cash is still useful for local markets, smaller shops, beach vendors and establishments with limited connectivity.

Experiences to Look Forward To

  • Palm trees leaning over a sandy beach with rocky outcrops and blue ocean
    Beaches and Coastal Life
  • a large building with a clock on the front of it
    Heritage and Architecture
  • a crowd of people watching fireworks on a stage
    Nightlife and Music
  • a river running through a lush green forest
    Nature and the Backwaters
About the Destination

Goa may be known for its beaches, but the state offers much more than a conventional coastal holiday. Its landscape brings together the Arabian Sea, rivers, forested interiors, old neighbourhoods, churches, temples, forts and villages shaped by layers of history and local culture.

The kind of Goa you experience depends greatly on where you stay. North Goa is known for lively neighbourhoods, restaurants and popular beaches, while South Goa offers quieter coastal stretches and a slower pace. Beyond both lies another Goa of heritage homes, local markets, nature, food and everyday village life, making it easy to shape the holiday around relaxation, exploration or a mix of both.

Best time to Visit
  • October to March offers pleasant weather, clearer skies and comfortable conditions for beaches and sightseeing.

  • December and the New Year period are particularly busy, so accommodation should be booked well in advance.

  • June to September brings the monsoon, when Goa becomes greener and better suited to nature, food and slower experiences.

  • April and May are warmer and more humid, although beach stays and relaxed resort holidays remain possible.

Planning the flights

Goa is served by Dabolim Airport and Manohar International Airport. Flight options are available from major Indian cities, but the more convenient airport will depend on the location of the selected hotel. Airport transfer time should therefore be considered when choosing between North and South Goa.
